Despina Wilson, Shelby Ware earn Girl Scout Gold Award


Lafayette Senior high school graduates Despina Wilson and Shelby Ware have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award.

Despina and Shelby were awarded for their project: The Contemplation Pavilion with the Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program. Despina has been working hard within the Girl Scouts for 9 years and feels “The Girl Scouts not only shapes our girls, but also our community and the next generation.”

To complete the requirements to obtain the highest award in Girl Scouting, Despina: Obtained materials for the project through emails, phone conversations, and many meetings to receive donations for the pavilion; Worked together with the assistance of BDVA and Contractor Michael Ware of Superior Maintenance to build the pavilion; Connected with her community to provide awareness of the needs of the BDVA.
